Description
Published byEl Pósito, dating back to the 18th century, was originally built to store grain. Years later it was converted into a prison, and after that it housed a special needs school. Following its recent painstaking renovation, it now serves as a landmark tourist and cultural centre in the town of Linares.
Organised around different spaces, it houses the new Tourist Office, the town's Interpretation Centre, the Linares Documentation and Tourist Resources Centre, a temporary exhibition and conference hall, a souvenir shop, and, on the top floor, the official museum dedicated to Raphael, the world-famous singer from Linares. Adjacent to the building is the Municipal Auditorium, which hosts conferences and all kinds of events.
The Linares Interpretation Centre is dedicated to the town's history and cultural heritage. Mining, bullfighting and flamenco have a prominent place in the centre, showcasing leading representatives of the town's artistic talent and creativity. The centre has an audio guide system in Spanish and English, and audiovisual presentations are available in English upon request.
The Raphael Museum has a system of tablets that provide audiovisual descriptions of the magnificent musical career of the Linares-born artist. The devices are also connected to the internet, allowing visitors to share museum content, impressions and comments on social media.
In the Tourist Office, visitors can take three exciting audio-guided "walks" to discover the historical, cultural and scenic heritage of Linares.
