Description
Published bySan Pedro Shrine is in the Eras del Mecedero, right at the entrance of Frailes, Jaén, along the road that leads to Valdepeñas. Although this shrine holds the image of the town's patron saint, Saint Peter, it is a very small and artistically sober building.
In any case, despite its small size, as it contains the image of Saint Peter and because of its symbolic location at the entrance of the town, the building, given to the town by Antonio Pareja, known in Frailes as Tío Pelos, is very important to the locals. An example of this importance is the financial support that José López, the town's gravedigger for years, received from the locals to purchase the church.
Finally, it is also noteworthy that we find it on Sendero GR-7, the oldest long trail in Spain.
