Description
Published byThe Church of San Juan Bautista was built in 1769 in Almedinilla, but only the dressed stone remains from the original. The current church was built in 1978.
It features a life-size crucifix in the presbytery and the style recalls mid-17th century Sevillian aesthetics. The image of San Juan Bautista is a carving in "estofado" (wood imitating gold brocade), that was created in the workshop of Alonso de Mena in about 1630. There is also an 18th-century carving of the Virgen de los Dolores next to a Nazarene, from the school of José de Mora.
