Molino del Batán - Miranda del Rey

Near Miranda del Rey stream, near the village of Miranda del Rey (Santa Elena), we can find Molino del Batán mill, with impressive remains of pre-industrial facilities, fulling mills of medieval origin, which are moved by the force of the water. The place is dominated by a riparian forest with abundant ash and alder trees, which make the stones of the mill look like a magical postcard.

Although it has never been completely clear what the buildings were used for, it seems like one was used as a fulling mill for compacting and cleaning wool and the other as a mill for grinding cereal. This place can be reached by following the signposted trail that is part of the public use network of Despeñaperros Natural Park.
