The Palace of the Medinilla is a stately mansion organised around a central columned courtyard, following the model developed in the civil architecture of the city of Úbeda (Jaén). The facade is characterised by a strong sense of horizontality. It is divided into two bodies. The first floor features a slightly offset doorway with a half-point arch in the Plateresque style, flanked by two pairs of pilasters that frame it.
It was built in 1627, when the personal secretary of Emperor Charles V, Francisco de los Cobos, and his favourite architect, Andrés de Vandelvira, were determined to make Úbeda the most monumental Renaissance city in Andalusia... and in Spain. It is an example of late Renaissance with Baroque elements, alternating split and curved pediments.
Weddings, corporate events or presentations... our gardens and indoor lounges are perfect for intimate and exclusive events for around 250 people. The Palacio de los Medinilla also offers endless possibilities as a setting for filming, productions and photo shoots: a library with mediaeval church pews, rooms with antiques and Murano lamps, an underground wine cellar, bedrooms with four-poster beds, and a Renaissance courtyard are just some of its charming corners. It can accommodate around 250 people, both in its gardens and outdoor areas as well as in its indoor halls.
