Description
Published byThe Herederos de Argüeso winery complex is in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, in the area of the Calle Mar, Calle Bolsa, Callejón de Santo Domingo and Calle del Ángel, over what was the old convent and orchards of Santo Domingo, grouped into about twenty wine cellars, stretching almost two blocks over 13,500 square metres. The cellars belong to different periods and styles, although the majority are 19th-century, in the style of the vintner architecture of the time, in addition to the large "San Vidal" winery.
The spaces remaining from the old Santo Domingo convent stand out, such as the “El Refectorio “and “La Sacristía” naves, which have magnificent polychrome coffering from the 16th century.
In addition to the winery complex on Calle Mar, Herederos de Argüeso owns the "San Lucas” winery (10,000 square metres) on the Chipiona road, which was purchased in 1992.
The Herederos de Argüeso Visitor's Centre is right in the centre of the town of Sanlucar (Calle Mar No. 8), next to the Santo Domingo church and five minutes from Bajo de Guía, the gastronomic centre of the town. During the tour, the secrets of how our prestigious San León and Las Medallas manzanilla sherries are made are explained simply to visitors, and the tour concludes with a tasting of our products.
