Historic buildingSan Miguel, Spain
Description
Published byNot only an example of traditional architecture, but also the home of an important Canarian anthropologist and historian.
In 1847, Don Juan Bethencourt Alfonso, physician, anthropologist, ethnographer, and historian, was born in this house. He authored the work "History of the Guanche People," which helped to decipher the surprising world of the aboriginal inhabitants of Tenerife. This building is a fine example of traditional construction. The main façade, which faces the plaza, is notable for the striking woodwork of its doors and windows.
