Conjunto Monumental del Alcázar de Jerez y Cámara Oscura

The Monumental Complex of the Alcázar of Jerez and Camera Obscurain Jerez de la Frontera is one of the few examples of Almohad architecture in the peninsula. Highlights outside are: the Octagonal Tower (the highest in the city), the Almohad Tower and the Ponce de León Tower. Inside: the City Gate, the only access from the city to the enclosure in the 12th century, and the Mosque, the only one preserved in the city. The ablutions courtyard, the gardens, the baths, the Villavicencio Palace (the Camera Obscura can be found inside its tower).

The entrance includes a visit to the mosque, the parade ground, the gardens, the Arab baths, the San Fernando courtyard and the Villavicencio Palace. The Camera Obscura is located in the Tower of Villavicencio Palace (17th-18th century). The visit includes entry to two exhibitions, the first of the existing Camera Obscuras in the world, the second is an exhibition onJeréz, explained by a guide, detailing the most significant monuments.

The Monumental Complex is a venue for events and celebrations that can be booked from The Office of Tourism, Commerce and Consumers, always in compliance with the criteria and regulations that guarantee the proper use of the different spaces and ensure the protection and preservation of the monument as a Site of Cultural Interest. The halls in Villavicencio Palace, the outdoor spaces of the Patio de Armas and the Patio de San Fernando, and the Mill Room are used to host different events.
