Description
Published byThe Convent of San Francisco is located in the highest part of the town of Estepa, on San Cristóbal Hill, very close to the Keep. Construction on the convent began in 1603 after a financial contribution from the Second Marquis of Estepa, Don Juan Bautista Centurión. In 1835, the friars of the convent were expelled, and the building was completely destroyed, leaving only the church. Construction of the current convent began at the end of the 19th century and was completed in 1904. Currently, the church, except for the area dedicated to the fraternity, is used as a spiritual center.
