Description
Published byThe Rock Caves of Cortijo de Auta, in Riogordo, Malaga, are a group of natural caves in a rocky escarpment to the east of the farmhouse. They were inhabited between the 9th and 10th centuries, during the revolt of Umar ibn Hafsun against the Emirate of Cordoba. These caves were used as a refuge and housing for the Mozarabic communities of the region, reflecting human adaptation to the natural environment in times of conflict.
