Description
Published byThe Monastery of Santa Clara was declared a National Monument in 1931. It is a monumental landmark of the town. It is a building built in the first half of the 14th century, with Andalusian Mudejar architecture. Inside the monastery we highlight the cloister of the mothers, low choir, Nasrid stalls and tomb lauds of Pedro Portocarrero and his wife Juana de Cárdenas.
The 14th century Church is of Gothic-Mudejar parochial typology. Inside the Church there are the marble and alabaster tombs of its founders, highlighting the one made by Gian Gacome della Porta, a disciple of Michelangelo. Also, scene of the "Columbian Vote".
It is the most prominent Columbian monument in Moguer.
