Description
Published byThe Copper Museum stands in the neighbourhood of Cerro Muriano, in an area with the same name in the Municipal District of Obejo (part of the same neighbourhood belongs to the Municipal District of Córdoba). The building is an old Civil Guard Barracks.
The Copper Museum consists of three exhibition halls:
Hall I: Here you can see some of the materials subjected to metallographic analysis and some of the minerals from the area.
Hall II: this is dedicated to Protohistory, and it exhibits the oldest objects in the Museum.
Hall III: this is dedicated to the Roman world. Here you will find a good selection of materials recovered during the excavations undertaken in the Cerro de la Coja, where the remains of what was probably a public bathhouse were discovered on the southern slope, and which was probably abandoned during the mandate of Tiberius.
In the exterior of the Museum there is a restored Roman Republican oven that was excavated in the Los Pinares archaeological site (Cerro Muriano).
