Monfí Museum is located in the municipality of Cútar, region of Axarquía. This visitor centre will allow visitors to discover the history and culture of the monfíes, Muslims who, after the conquest of Granada in 1492, took refuge in the mountains to escape Christian repression.
The museum offers an exhibition that focuses on three main areas:
*
Life in the Andalusian hamlet: we explore the customs, traditions and social organisation of the Muslim community in the region.
*
Alfaquí Al-Yayar: the figure of this religious leader and his influence on the Monfí community stands out.
*
Transformation into Villa Cristiana: we analyse the transformation of Cútar after the conquest and the integration of the Monfíes into Christian society.
