Description
Published byThe Joaquín Peinado Museum belongs to the Unicaja-Ronda Foundation. It is located in the Palacio de los Marqueses de Moctezuma, a magnificent civil building located right in the historical town centre of the city of Ronda.
There is a permanent exhibition of a collection of paintings by the Ronda artist Joaquín Peinado (Ronda 1989-Paris 1975), belonging to the Spanish School of Paris, together with other artists including Francisco Bores, M. Angeles Ortiz, Pancho Cossio, and Hernando Viñes.
Peinado is considered to be the heir to Cezanne and a spiritual son of Picasso. The Joaquín Peinado Museum provides us with biographical data on the author in a photographic exhibition prior to the visit. The exhibition is very varied as regards themes and artistic techniques and this enables us to make a journey through the artistic trajectory of this artist from Ronda and enjoy the excellent quality of his work.
At the same time, the exhibition enables us to admire the beautiful rooms in the Palacio de los Marqueses de Moctezuma; a Mudéjar salon, a Neogothic church, a colonnaded patio, etc. where the heirs of the Mexican emperor Moctezuma II lived and where his remains rest, as indicated by a commemorative tombstone.
