Description
Published byThe aim of the Ronda Bullfighting Museum is to provide simple and clear information about the institution of the Real Maestranza de Caballería de Ronda, its influence on the development and evolution of the art of bullfighting, and the place that Ronda occupies in the history of this eminently Spanish Festivity.
The Ronda Bullfighting Museum, located under the stalls of the bullring, takes visitors on a journey in time through the essential features of bullfighting, the city of Ronda, the relationship with horse riding and, ultimately with the institution itself as a promoter of the bullfighting tradition.
In February 2006, the collection of the Royal Saddlery of the House of Orleans, belonging to King Louis Philippe of France and his son, the Duke of Montpensier, was added to the items on display. And more recently, a unique collection of Antique Firearms for hunting and duelling, dating back to the 16th to the 19th centuries.
This panoramic overview of knightly uses and customs is complemented with a gallery dedicated to the Real Maestranza de Caballería, from its origins linked to the orders of Knights, its heraldry and hallmarks as a noble corporation that has remained intact over time, to its relationship with the city of Ronda.
