Description
Published byLocated in the province of Cordoba, the Hornachuelos Star Observation Point is a site specially designed for stargazing. This spot is located in an area with low light pollution, making it ideal for enjoying the night sky. It is equipped with infrastructure such as platforms and information signs. If you’ve got a roomy car that can handle a small hill on a narrow lane, your telescope packed, and you’re after an incredible night sky… don’t think twice. This is one of the most remote and isolated places in Sierra Morena, but also (and precisely for that reason) one of the darkest. To get there, leaving Hornachuelos, take the A-3151 towards the hermitage of San Calixto, pass by it and continue without turning off along this road until, at km 41, you see a path that climbs a hill on the left. It's not far and it's not signposted, so keep a close eye on your GPS or mobile phone so you don't miss the entrance. We also recommend you take water and food with you as there is nowhere to buy them nearby. If you don't want to go so far, you can also stargaze from the hermitage of San Abundio.
