Description

The Civil War Refuges are underground galleries designed by architect Guillermo Langle Rubio, 9 metres under the ground, to protect human lives from the bombings in the city. Of the 4.5 kilometres designed by the architect, almosy one kilometre has been recovered, which is the main artery: the Paseo de Almería.
It has the attraction of having recreational areas: cellar pantry, Guillermo Langle refuge and the and the operating theatre, with the instruments from that time. The Civil War Refuges were designed in 1936, but built between February 1937 and 1938. The construction was renovated by the Council of Almería and is now the largest refuge in Europe open to the public.
