MECA Mediterráneo Centro Artístico

MECA Mediterranean Art Center, located in the historic centre of Almería, is a pioneering multidisciplinary space in the city and an Andalusian benchmark in production, promotion and exhibition of contemporary art that was founded by artist and curator Fernando Barrionuevo in 1988.

We organise exhibitions in various art spaces and museums, in addition to our own art centre, alongside literary and musical events, workshops, and a wide range of performances. Our mission is to strengthen the foundations of contemporary artistic culture. To this end, we offer a broad catalogue of national and international programmes and projects, which take the form of exhibitions, international contemporary art biennials, city-wide initiatives, educational workshops, training and professional development activities, cooperative and networking events, art fairs, conferences and symposiums.
