Considered the largest Islamic cultural institution in Spain, this center was inaugurated on September 21, 1992. Since then, it has become the home of Islam in Madrid, frequented by thousands of Muslims as well as non-Muslims, attracted by the unique minaret (one of only two in Madrid). It is popularly known as the M30 Mosque, due to its location next to this major thoroughfare that runs through the city.
The M30 Mosque is the largest in Spain and Europe. Its interior is inspired by the Alhambra in Granada. The complex, covering 12,000 square meters spread over six floors, also includes a nursery school, a library (with Arabic, Spanish, English, and French collections), two exhibition halls, a museum, an auditorium, a gymnasium, and the Alzahra restaurant. Its façade is decorated with marble from Almería.
