The Cathedral of the Savior of Zaragoza (La Seo) possesses and houses one of the world's finest collections of Flemish tapestries from the 15th, 16th, and 17th centuries, woven in the renowned European workshops of Arras, Tournai, and Brussels.
The Tapestry Museum is located in the Sacristy and rooms on the first floor of La Seo in Zaragoza.
Its collection comprises more than 60 Flemish tapestries and 6 wall hangings, donated to La Seo by kings, archbishops, canons, and the cathedral chapter itself. Their richness, quality, rarity, and age make them one of the jewels of Spain's heritage.
Throughout history, tapestries have served as insulation against cold and damp, as well as decorative and didactic purposes, and have been used to disseminate images, devotions, and designs. artistic. Tapestries are read like a text, from left to right and from top to bottom.
