The ICO Museum, located next to the Paseo del Arte (Art Walk), was inaugurated in 1996 and was initially intended to exhibit the 20th-century Spanish art collections of the Instituto de Crédito Oficial (Official Credit Institute).

Since 2012, the ICO Foundation has resumed its exhibition program focused on architecture and urban planning for its temporary exhibitions, organized around three thematic axes:

- The great figures of architecture, with exhibitions dedicated to Marcel Breuer, Dominique Perrault, the Pietilä brothers, Ábalos & Herreros, Fisac y de la Sota, Juan Navarro Baldeweg, and David Chipperfield; - The role of architecture in the face of the great challenges of modern society, with exhibitions such as “Spain Mon Amour” and “The Architect is Present”; - As part of the PHotoEspaña Festival, architecture is presented from the perspective of photography, with examples such as “Building Worlds,” “Photography and Modern Architecture in Spain, 1925–1965,” and “Manolo Laguillo: Reason and City.” In conjunction with its temporary exhibitions, the ICO Museum offers guided tours and other educational activities aimed at children and young people. Furthermore, the ICO Museum is an open and inclusive space that seeks to facilitate access for the greatest possible number of visitors. Therefore, in addition to having the necessary resources for people with reduced mobility, the Museum offers activities that promote the inclusion of different types of audiences.
