Located in northwest Madrid, this building, constructed between 1949 and 1954 on the site of the former Royal Site of Moncloa, destroyed during the Spanish Civil War, is the seat of the Presidency of the Government of Spain and the official residence of the Prime Minister and his family, established as such in 1977 by President Adolfo Suárez. The palace was designed by the architect Diego Méndez, modeled after the Casa del Labrador in Aranjuez, and initially served as the official residence for Heads of State and other high-ranking officials visiting Spain. Currently, the Moncloa Abierta program offers weekly 90-minute guided tours of some of its rooms, with prior registration on its official website. The tour includes the gardens, some of the meeting rooms, and the buildings of the Council of Ministers and the State Secretariat for Communication. The visits will take place on days when there is no official agenda at the complex, nor any scheduled public events.
