Located in the heart of Chueca, this market is a treasure trove of surprises well worth a visit. Although its origins date back to the 19th century, after being demolished it was rebuilt in 2011, resulting in a modern building with spaces dedicated to both food shopping and dining. In 2021, it underwent a renovation that refreshed its image and incorporated new restaurants and shops, some of which have become very successful, such as La Ancha, Hevia, and Café Comercial. The market has three floors: The first floor is dedicated to the sale of perishable goods, and also has some areas where you can enjoy tapas. The second floor consists of 9 show cooking/takeaway stalls, where you can enjoy everything from traditional Madrid cuisine to Asian and Italian dishes. On the third floor is the 11 Nudos Terraza Nordés restaurant and terrace, part of the Osborne group, where you can enjoy cuisine featuring the best of the sea and land, dishes that show clear Atlantic influences and the highest quality ingredients. The San Antón Market also represents a new model of sustainable market, in which the central skylight functions as a huge photovoltaic energy collector and the floor is made of molten basalt, a material originally reused. It also has a collection system that reduces the volume of organic waste by 80%. The market has free Wi-Fi on all floors.
