Located in the Latina district, this is one of two municipal markets in the area, specifically in the Puerta del Ángel neighborhood, very close to the Paseo de Extremadura and Madrid Río. It is one of the last remaining examples of civil architecture from the Second Republic. Its diverse gastronomic offerings are a highlight, ranging from offal to Chinese and vegan food. The building was constructed in 1932, designed by the architect Luis Bellido, who also designed the Madrid Slaughterhouse. It was part of the General Plan for Municipal Markets implemented by the Second Republic to supply the city. The building has a granite base and a brick exterior, with one interior floor. A curious fact is that its structure still bears the marks of shell impacts from the Spanish Civil War. The complex houses several stalls selling fresh, daily produce at affordable prices, including butchers, fishmongers, grocers, bakeries, fruit and vegetable stands, as well as a food court divided into different stalls. There, you can sample everything from Greek, Mexican, Peruvian, and Spanish dishes to a wide variety of craft beers, which can be enjoyed there, taken away, or delivered. The Tirso de Molina Market has been partially renovated as part of the comprehensive plan promoted by the Madrid City Council for the city's municipal markets, with the aim of improving its facilities and services.
